Advisory Committee Report

To support the development of the 2020-2025 Dietary Guidelines for Americans, HHS and USDA established a Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee that reviewed the current body of nutrition science at the time, considered public comments, and provided advice to the Departments in its scientific report. The USDA and HHS Secretaries selected 20 nutrition scientists and physicians to serve on the Advisory Committee. The Committee held its first of seven public meetings on March 28-29, 2019. The Committee then submitted its scientific report to the Secretaries in July 2020.
