Advisory Committee Report

To support the development of the 2000 Dietary Guidelines for Americans, the USDA and HHS established a Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee that reviewed the current body of nutrition science at the time, considered public comments, and provided advice to the Departments in its scientific report. The USDA and HHS Secretaries selected 11 nutrition scientists and physicians to serve on the Advisory Committee. The Committee held its first of four public meetings on September 28-29, 1998. The Committee then submitted its report to the Secretaries in February 2000.
