Released on January 7, 2016, the 2015-2020 Dietary Guidelines for Americans featured recommendations developed and released by the U.S. Departments of Health and Human Services (HHS) and Agriculture (USDA). It remained the Federal guidance until the Dietary Guidelines for Americans, 2020-2025 was released.
The MyPlate, MyWins campaign was launched via ChooseMyPlate.gov with the release of the 2015-2020 Dietary Guidelines for Americans. MyPlate, MyWins focused on helping Americans find their healthy eating style by focusing on the all five MyPlate food groups.
Advisory Committee Report
To support the development of the 2015-2020 Dietary Guidelines for Americans, the HHS and USDA established a Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee that reviewed the current body of nutrition science at the time, considered public comments, and provided advice to the Departments in its scientific report. The HHS and USDA Secretaries selected 15 nutrition scientists and physicians to serve on the Advisory Committee. The Committee held its first of seven public meetings on June 13-14, 2013. The Committee then submitted its scientific report to the Secretaries in January 2013.
