Advisory Committee Report

To support the development of the 2005 Dietary Guidelines for Americans, the USDA and HHS established a Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee that reviewed the current body of nutrition science at the time, considered public comments, and provided advice to the Departments in its scientific report. The USDA and HHS Secretaries selected 13 nutrition scientists and physicians to serve on the Advisory Committee. The Committee held its first of five public meetings on September 23-24, 2003. The Committee then submitted its report to the Secretaries in August 2004.
