2010 Dietary Guidelines for Americans
Released on January 31, 2011, the 2010 Dietary Guidelines for Americans featured recommendations developed and released by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and Health and Human Services (HHS). It remained the current Federal guidance until the 2015-2020 Dietary Guidelines for Americans was released.

The brochure, “Let’s Eat for the Health of It,” translated key information from the 2010 Dietary Guidelines for Americans for consumers, and provided tips to help Americans make food and beverage choices to meet the recommendations.
Advisory Committee Report
To support the development of the 2010 Dietary Guidelines for Americans, the USDA and HHS established a Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee that reviewed the current body of nutrition science at the time, considered public comments, and provided advice to the Departments in its scientific report. The USDA and HHS
Secretaries selected 13 nutrition scientists and physicians to serve on the Advisory Committee. The Committee held its first of six public meetings on October 30-31, 2008. The Committee then submitted its report to the Secretaries in May 2010. The 2010 Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee report also included the following supplemental information related to its report:
